The Story of Luc Johnson
Hi, welcome to my page! You clicked the link to know more about me so that's what I'm going to tell you!
I was born in Taylorville, Illinois which is a moderately sized farming community located in the heart of the state. As a farming community, the educational opportuniites weren't as comparable to bigger urban schools, but the town made by with what we had. I advanced from preschool to eighth grade at a Christian private school before transitioning to the Taylorville Public High School. Attending classes at the school never gave me an answer to where my future academic interests interests lied, and I carefully considered taking a career path into the armed forces. However, a civilian aptitude test revealed to me where my best interests should lie and I backed away from a military career. I discovered civil engineering as a result of this aptitude test, and I decided to attend college in the ambitious hope of an engineering career. I believe education is a vital key for letting everyone understand their full potential. I can personally relate coming from a high school with lack-luster academics. It wasn't until my junior year when I learned what Civil Engineering was. I never learned from my school because engineering class options were never available. Instead, I had to read the results of a civilian aptitude test to decide my future. The lack-luster academics my high school offered leads me to believe I am not as well prepared as fellow Bradley students in my classes. While they were taking AP classes and college preparatory, I was taking the small dual credit classes Taylorville offered. I would not say I'm lost, but I would say I'm behind in specific skill sets for my major. Education is a powerful tool, and I believe that the best forms of education should be accessible to all students no matter of location. Currently, I believe Bradley University - my current institutionalization - will prepare me for the future workforce. The phenomenal instructors pride themselves in teaching to the best of their ability, and undoubtedly, they are preparing me with the necessary skills and abilities to compete in the engineering market. It does not matter which profession you may be, but education and learning is the backdrop for everybody. |
